Fecal Microbiome Does Not Represent Whole Gut Microbiome

چکیده
The current gut microbiome research relies on the fecal under assumption that represents of entire gastrointestinal (GI) tract. However, there have been growing concerns about using feces as a proxy to study microbiome. Here, we comprehensively analyzed composition and metabolites in at 14 different locations GI tracts genetically homogenous sibling pigs evaluate validity whole intestinal microbes constituting each content their metabolic compositions were thoroughly investigated through metagenome sequencing an ultraperformance LC-MS/MS, respectively. fluctuation stomach small intestine became stabilized from large was able be categorized into 3 groups. taxonomic α-diversities measured by ACE (abundance-based coverage estimator) richness Shannon diversity indicated much more diverse than those feces. highly independent flourished converged community with tightly connected networks. β-Diversity analyses NMDS plots, PCA, unsupervised hierarchical clustering all showed diversities lowest while highest intestine. In accordance along tract, also completely differed location-specific manner Comparative analysis tract is insufficient represent

Role of Gut Microbiome in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder that affects 8-13% of women at reproductive age worldwide. This disorder is usually associated with menstrual disorders, infertility, obesity, and insulin resistance. The underlying cause of this syndrome is unknown, however in recent years, researchers have shown an association between intestinal microbiota alterations )dysbiosi...
متن کاملControl of the gut microbiome by fecal microRNA
Since their discovery in the early 90s, microRNAs (miRNAs), small non-coding RNAs, have mainly been associated with posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression on a cell-autonomous level. Recent evidence has extended this role by adding inter-species communication to the manifold functional range. In our latest study [Liu S, et al., 2016, Cell Host & Microbe], we identified miRNAs in gut ...
متن کاملRecovery of the Gut Microbiome following Fecal Microbiota Transplantation
UNLABELLED Clostridium difficile infection is one of the most common health care-associated infections, and up to 40% of patients suffer from recurrence of disease following standard antibiotic therapy. Recently, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been successfully used to treat recurrent C. difficile infection. It is hypothesized that FMT aids in recovery of a microbiota capable of col...
متن کاملThe Microbiome The gut microbiome in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
Over the last dozen years, increasingly powerful DNA sequencing methods have allowed characterization of the microbes residing on and in humans in much greater detail than ever possible before. Abnormalities present in the gut microbiome—those microbial communities residing in our intestines—have now been observed in a number of diseases. One such illness is Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), also...
متن کاملGut Microbiome and Kidney Disease in Pediatrics: Does Connection Exist?
Child development is a unique and continuous process that is impacted by genetics and environmental factors. Gut microbiome changes with development and depends on the stage of gut maturation, nutrition, and overall health. In spite of emerging data and active study in adults, the gut-renal axis in pediatrics has not been well considered and investigated. This review will focus on the current k...
